ALA / ALC

ALA / ALC - Alpha lipoic acid and acetyl-L-carnitine help in the process of transporting fatty acids to the cellular powerhouse and ultimately convert them into ATP, thereby energizing the heart and brain. Both alpha lipoic acid and acetyl-L-carnitine can easily sail across the blood-brain barrier to protect and nourish the brain, and protecting neurons from deterioration. In addition to boosting ATP within the brain, ALC also increases neurotransmitters like acetylcholine by providing its ‘acetyl’ part, while another brain nutrient, phoshatidyl choline (PC) provides choline, for the synthesis of acetylcholine.

Neurotransmitters are chemicals made by neurons. They are like messengers send out by neurons as a means of communicate among themselves within the central nervous system, which consists of the brain and the spinal cord. And since neurotransmitters are the only means of communication in the brain network, decline in adequate levels spells memory deterioration; whether it’s the common forgetfulness or decreased learning ability or the all-out scourge of Alzheimer’s disease!

The alpha lipoic acid and acetyl-L-carnitine combo, therefore, is a potent weapon to combat memory loss due to aging, Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. In addition, they act as antioxidants protecting neurons and heart cells from oxidative stress.
